São Cipriano, a parish in the municipality of Resende, district of Viseu, covers an area of approximately 6.18 square kilometers.
This parish is limited to the north by the parish of Freigil, to the east by the parishes of Cárquere and São Romão de Aregos, to the west by the parish of Ramires (Cinfães) and to the south by the parish of Ovadas.
The Cabrum Valley is a natural and tourist point of interest. The walking route "Vale do Cabrum Superior" (PR1), approximately 8.9 km long, runs along the valley, starting and ending in São Cipriano (Covelinhas), allowing visitors to explore the area's natural beauty. The valley is known for its lush natural surroundings, steep slopes, and diverse fauna and flora, including the presence of birds, foxes, wild boars, and Arouquesa cattle in the adjacent pastures. The valley offers privileged spaces for rest, leisure, and contemplation, revealing the river and local history, including the connection to the "Illustrious House of Ramires" by Eça de Queirós, whose tower was located near the Lagariça bridge. The Association for the Promotion and Rural Development of the Cabrum Valley (AVDRVC), in addition to focusing on the promotion and appreciation of the Cabrum Valley, which runs through the parish of São Cipriano, organizes various events aimed at raising awareness for the defense of this valley and river. The Cabrum River and its valley are central elements in the geography, nature, and leisure activities of the parish of São Cipriano, in the municipality of Resende. It originates in the Serra do Montemuro, near the village of Gralheira, and runs for about 20 km until it flows into the Douro River, in the region of Oliveira do Douro (municipality of Cinfães). It is a natural border for much of its course, separating the municipality of Resende from the neighboring municipality of Cinfães. A typical mountain river, with multiple drops, a rocky bed, numerous pools, and beautiful waterfalls.
