The parish of São Cipriano, in the municipality of Resende, has a long history marked by archaeological remains, literary references, and a strong cultural identity linked to music. Its name comes from Saint Cyprian, a 3rd-century bishop and martyr, and the presence of a megalithic site proves human occupation since prehistoric times.
The parish gained national prominence through A Ilustre Casa de Ramires by Eça de Queirós, inspired by the Torre da Lagariça, now a Property of Public Interest. The local heritage also includes the 18th-century Main Church, bridges, chapels, mills, and various wayside shrines.
