Illustrious Casa de Ramires - Torre da Lagariça

São Cipriano - Torre da Lagariça - Since medieval times the family of "Pintos" lived in Lagariça, who were noble and lords of Riba de Bestança, in Torre da Chã, and of the palace of Covelas, in the old municipality of Ferreiros. Gonçalo Martins Cochofel was probably the first lord of Lagariça and married, at the beginning of the 16th century, with D. Briolanja Pinto, of the Pintos de Covelas generation. During the Middle Ages, the Tower must have served as a watchtower for the entire surrounding region. In 1610 it would belong to the Pintos Cochoféis, who proceeded to adapt the Tower to the family's residence. The name Casa da Torre comes from the existence of the ancient castle tower that is attached to the manor. The manor with the tower was declared a Property of Public Interest, by decree of September 29, 1977. This house happens to be the "Illustrious Casa de Ramires" described in the novel by Eça de Queiroz. Documentary source: Visite a página de facebook!
