António Pinto Madureira, a miner by profession who used his nickname, came to S. Cipriano in 1920 to open a mine and stayed here. The "Mineiro" possessed the skills of a healer. He came to people from various places, who in distress sought to cure their diseases and ailments. Such gifts earned him a prison sentence of 7 months and 15 days, replaced by a fine of 30 escudos for each day of conviction. But it is its artistic side that deserves to be highlighted. Alminhas, Cruzeiros and Santos Statues, were carefully sculpted and worked in granite, in a combination of profane and religious elements.
